16 Things Your Daughter Wants For Her Sweet 16

By Sheila Dollarsby

Girls all over the United States, for one reason or another, look forward to the day that they will turn 16. There is nothing overly special that they get to do at sixteen that they can't do at any other age. True, they are older and more mature, but they can't vote yet, they can't drink alcohol, and they can just barely drive in some states. But for some reason it's a special year for them. There is certainly also a long line of things that most young girls would like to do or receive as a present on their sixteenth birthday. With that in mind, the following list has been compiled to help parents across America make their sixteen year olds birthday wishes come true!

1. A Car. Every teenager would love a car and as seen on the MTV television show about 16th birthdays, they want it to be revealed in front of all their friends.

2. Flowers. Most teenage girls have never before received a bouquet of flowers for any occasion, let alone their birthday. So send your daughter a lovely arrangement to her school on her birthday, so that everyone will see that she is special.

3. A Pair of Earrings. These shouldn't be just any earrings: they should be real earrings, meaning that they should have real stones in them and should either be gold or platinum. A nice pair of diamond studs that aren't necessarily huge will be a nice gift for your sixteen year old and will be a gift that she'll remember and have forever.

4. A Ring. Most teenager girls don't own a real ring yet either. So pass one on to your daughter. She's finally old enough to wear one without losing it so trust her enough to give her one.

5. Manicure and Pedicure. Sixteen year olds are anxious to know what it's like to be like their mothers. So treat your daughter to the same kind of treatments you give yourself. Take her to get her first manicure and pedicure.

6. Professional Make-Up Lesson. Let your daughter experience what it's like to be beautiful and feminine for a day. Take her to have her first make-up lesson and professional make-up application. This will not only boost her self-confidence but will be a fun way for you and your daughter to bond.

7. Hair Salon Hair. Take your daughter to have her hair professionally done by a real stylist. Let her get a new look; after all she isn't a baby anymore.

8. A New Dress. Every teenager longs to look a little older, so get your daughter a new party dress that she can wear out for a night on the town with her friends. It doesn't need to be too sexy; age appropriate will do.

9. Room Re-do. Allow your daughter to give her room a more mature look. You don't have to spend a ton of money; a can of paint can work wonders on walls and furniture for under $100.

10. An New Purse. Your 16 year old may not yet own a purse, although she should. If she does already then get her a new fancy, designer purse that she will love.

11. Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party. Everyone has seen MTV's television show "My Sweet Sixteen". Well long before this show was popular, little girls have wanted a sweet sixteen birthday party. It is an absolute must that you give your daughter one otherwise she will hate you for the rest of your life.

12. Birthday Cake. Along with a party, your daughter is going to need a cake. Whether it is homemade, store bought, or bakery made, make sure she has a cake in her favorite flavor with her favorite colors.

13. Cellular Phone. If she doesn't already have one, get her one. Enough said.

14. Decision Making Ability. Empower your daughter with the ability to make some decisions in her own life. Being older means more responsibility, so allow her to have a little bit more.

15. Credit Card. This one may be more than some are willing to give, but it is a good way to monitor what your daughter is buying and how much she is spending. And nowadays, they have prepaid credit cards so you can control how much your child spends.

16. Birthday Card from Her Parents. Never underestimate the power of love. Your teenager definitely wants to know that she's loved from her parents and like any woman, likes to have the love in writing. So if you can't do anything else for her, let her know how much your absolutely love her. - 30443
